Lemon Myrtle Oil
Known for being more lemony than lemons, lemon myrtle is a shrub unique to the coastal rainforests of Queensland, Australia. The plant's essential oil contains an amazing 90 percent of the lemon aroma component, citral. Regular lemon oil contains about 3-10 percent citral. Lemon myrtle oil is bottled like perfume in tiny glass flasks. A few drops is all it takes and the flavor possibilities are endless. Lemon myrtle oil is great for infusing other oils. A few drops to some extra virgin olive oil can really zap up your caesar salad. Try a few more infused in avocado oil drizzled over fresh slices of summer tomatos. Add to fish marinades. One drop in a cup of tea is nice and refreshing. Lemon myrtle also has wonderful health benefits. For an outrageous Thai lemon mint peanut dressing go to our recipe pages.
